Last call for EPICS on Microsoft VS2010 and VS2012 Compilers

The EPICS Core Developers would like to stop supporting EPICS Base builds on the ancient MS Visual Studio 2010 and 2012 compilers. The old C & C++ language standards that they require are causing us extra work during development, and dropping them would also speed up CI builds on the slow Appveyor platform.

 

Is there any reason to continue with these compilers in new EPICS Base versions? If you’re still running old equipment that needs them, have you actually been upgrading EPICS Base on those systems?

 

If nobody responds to this email before noon GMT next Wednesday (Feb 19th) we will drop support for them after the next release of Base, 7.0.9.
