Hi Maren,
This may be just too easy, but have you tried
shutdown = reboot
which might just work on VxWorks.
If not you can of course load a compiler C function to be the alias.
HTH,
- Andrew

hoping to get to upgrading at least some stuff at some point, but we're still running mostly 3.13.8 on VxWorks 5.5. A now retired former line manager of mine implemented a shutdown command that in addition to rebooting a crate also disconnects the serial lines on it. Now our telescope operators (all but one are new hires) have been told to use shutdown but that doesn't work on the crates where it isn't loaded because the care doesn't have serial lines. I know of one where we have to load code that is otherwise no longer used just because of the shutdown function being embedded in it. If there is and easy alias shutdown reboot I can put in the startup file (not a std.cmd file but a startup.vws file - for those who are only used to newer systems) that would be great but neither Google's AI nor any recent documentation mentions any of anything like this. TIA, Maren (I may just have to teach the telescope operators, I guess)
