Yes, I had read the page you linked - I suspect that the second problem is a side-effect of the first i.e. if I did get the detector and IOC set up correctly then (as listed in the documentation) the files would be fetched automatically 

I don’t currently have an operator interface running which I suspect is part of my problem - selecting between the options (EDM, MEDM are ~obsolete, but no successor has been anointed though there are numerous candidates?) also seems to be something of an unknown (having just read through a 12 year old slide deck) - though I am wary of making mention of this as it feels like opening a metaphorical can of worms

OK, I have EDM built (which may not be the best solution, but it was one I was aware of) and now hit

I think the easiest approach is to use the ADEiger OPI screen to show what PVs need to be configured.  Then you can do that with caput and look at the OPI screen to see the effect.  If you post a screen shot of the OPI screen I can see what might not be configured correctly.

Good morning / afternoon

I have spent some time this morning trying to configure an Eiger “from scratch” using _only_ the ADEiger interface and caput

I have thus far failed!

If someone has an example script I would find that very helpful :-)

I am trying right now to set up collection of a series of frames from either an internal or external trigger - I understand the concepts and I am sure I could do it through the rest interface but I am keen to use the standard EPICS one if possible, using simply caput and scripting

I appreciate that this is probably all obvious to those who are in the know - I am not!
