Hi Ralph,

 

We’ve used several Zaber linear and rotation stages (all 2-phase stepper motor versions), but only with our non-Zaber standard motion controllers (Parker and Galil). I can say that they are good quality stages.

 

So I don’t have experience with the Zaber controllers, but I had a quick look at the protocol manual and it seems like it’s easy-to-use ASCII syntax, so it could be interfaced via streamDevice fairly quickly (if a full motor driver is not needed).

Zaber has an open-source high-level library (Zaber Motion Library) written in Go with wrappers for a bunch of languages, on top of an ASCII-over-TCP protocol. Any experiences with that?
