Hi Grass,
Actually the last 2 cameras do also list GigE vision in both their main Web page and in the datasheet. So it seems like any of them should work.

Here is a list of IR cameras that list GenICam and
GigE Vision in their specifications
Flir A50 and A70
FLIR Axxx-Series Image Streaming
FLIR A615
There are also two that may not work because they
only list GenICam, but GigE Vision is not listed
Flir A6481
Flir A6451

I noticed that the newer FLIR thermal cameras list support for both GenICam and GigE Vision. Does support for GenICam and GigE Vision generally mean that these cameras are likely to be compatible with ADAravis and ADGenICam? Yes, they should

Yes, they should work with ADAravis. Can you send me a link to one of the newer FLIR thermal cameras you are considering?

Thank you for the suggestion.
After installing ADURL, I found that it can repeatedly read an image from a fixed URL. However, this does not seem to work well for the AX8.
The AX8 does not continuously save the JPG file, so the image still has to be saved manually. Also, when I try to use the URL provided by the web interface, it downloads an HTML file rather than a JPG image:
bash> file test.jpg
test.jpg: HTML document, UTF-8 Unicode text
This causes an error in the IOC:
URLDriver:readImage: error reading URL="" No decode delegate for this image format (/tmp/gmh3AIyd) reported by ../constitute.c:1535 (GmReadImage)
Even if the URL issue can be addressed, we may still need a more suitable solution for data collection.
Flir A35 works with ADAravis and ADGenICam, but it is discontinued.

Hi Grass, I looked at the specifications for the FLIR AX8 here: https: //www. flir. com/products/ax8-automation/?srsltid=AfmBOopZ0uYNLWFDaFGoK4C9KUp2GAC18Z8G326QffsMsXn-A2gF3mXQ It says that the camera can stream images in Motion JPEG, MPEG, and

Hi Grass,
I looked at the specifications for the FLIR AX8 here:
It says that the camera can stream images in Motion JPEG, MPEG, and H.264 formats. That suggests that you may be able to use ADURL, which works for reading from URLs in formats that include JPEG.

Subject: IR cameras
We currently have an FLIR AX8 and an Optris PI-1M. Does anyone have the EPICS support for it already?
The FLIR AX8 doesn’t support Aravis, so ADAravis won’t work.
Are there recommended IR cameras that integrate well with EPICS (ideally via an existing areaDetector driver)?
Thank you!
