Subject: Fanout with mask - unclear documentation on SHFT

Hi all,

I'm looking into using fanout records with SELM set to "Mask," and I noticed in the documentation (https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://docs.epics-controls.org/projects/base/en/latest/fanoutRecord.html__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!c6VtxanZO2etJoilWMZIBt7Glftdik3rzeRh8trQ_ihG5yhW8C4rRyYnYAUceWjULGXpTTG5MigtRnj0CXjUX7bGiZWpYg$ ) and existing IOCs that the SHFT field is by default set to -1. If that is the case, a mask value of (for example) 511, with SHFT not explicitly set, would cause LNK1-LNK9 to be processed, but not LNK0. Further, I noticed that the seq record documentation (https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://docs.epics-controls.org/projects/base/en/latest/seqRecord.html__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!c6VtxanZO2etJoilWMZIBt7Glftdik3rzeRh8trQ_ihG5yhW8C4rRyYnYAUceWjULGXpTTG5MigtRnj0CXjUX7av4QMcbA$ ) contains the following disclaimer about SHFT:

> To use the DO0, DOL0, LNK0, DLY0 fields when SELM = Mask, the SHFT field must be explicitly set to ZERO.

My question: Is the same true of the fanout record? In either case, the documentation should be updated to match reality. Best regards,
