I am not sure anyone has ever tested using the asyn VXI-11 support for USB devices over the E5810B gateway or other models. I know that it has been used for GPIB over such gateways, and for built-in VXI-11 support in devices. It is quite possible that there
are limitations in the asyn VXI-11 driver that prevent it from working with USB. If you manage to figure it out I'll be happy to look at a pull request.
Hello Alexis,
The PVs are not working if the target instrument is connected using the
USB port on the E5810B gateway. The PVs are working if the same target
instrument is connected using either the GPIB or serial port of the
gateway.
EPICS uses vxi11 when communicating with the E5810B gateway. I am trying
to understand if any specific configuration is required on EPICS side
when we connect the target instrument on the USB port of the E5810B or
is there some limitation from the E5810B side.
I will investigate the packets using wireshark. It's a good idea.
And thanks for the tip. I am aware of the 'Terminator' field. This is
just a single/two record database to test the E5810B.
