I attached the latest and greatest version of the logClient library. No 
global variables, separate thread for each client. Shutdown (via 
epicsAtExit) was already implemented. I made some slight changes that 
should make shutdown a bit more robust, but kept the rest as it is.

Compiled under HP-UX and Linux for HP-UX, Linux (both tested, if only 
the standard ioc log) and VxWorks (not yet tested, will do tomorrow).

Docs not yet done; coming soon.

Jeff,

Could you plese elaborate what you meant with shutdown for read or write 
end of socket? I can't see how to do more than call epicsSocketDestroy.
