In Ronaldo's defence, much of this code came from the 'capr' program that John Maclean wrote and which is in use at APS.  It has already been converted from using EZCA via the Extensions version of caget, hence the strings you see.  They do need changing though, and should probably be replaced with the native DBF_* strings.

Please make sure you test on record types that have a DBF_ULONG field, which CA will report as having a native type of DBF_DOUBLE.
