If you check the connection search on the Skanetrafiken website (https://www.skanetrafiken.se/sok-resa/) and search for a connection from "Lund Jupitergatan" (next to the Planetstaden) to "Lund ESS", you will find bus connections with a change at "Lund LTH" (technical university) roughly every 15 minutes, taking between 20 and 30 minutes for the trip.
(24h ticket for 50SEK = 6USD)

There's also "Donkey Republic", not far from the Planetstaden, who are renting out bikes.
(70SEK = 8USD per day)

It doesn't require a walk.  There is a bus stop a short distance away
from the hotel, but this means changing buses at Lund C.
