Hi Ralph,
I have done a little bit of work with can bus and epics. What I used
was a gridConnect RS232 to CAN adapter. The system I made was very
simple, one IOC talking rs232 connected to this adapter and that was
connected directly to a single VME crate. For what I needed this worked
perfectly. The adapter is configurable to work on whatever your serial
and CAN networks require. As far as hardware/software go, you should be
able to use whatever you want as long as it can do serial.

Subject: EPICS and CAN field bus
Hi all,
is anyone out there connecting from EPICS to CAN field bus using an IOC
on PC hardware?
What CAN interface hardware do you use? What OS is this running on?
(Linux preferred...)
What's the status of Marty's IP/PCI driver for Linux? (Still listed as
1.0alpha0 on the EPICS web.)
Would you consider putting a Tews TIP810 on such a carrier board to be a
good idea?
Thanks for your help!
Ralph
