Hello EPICS community,
10 years ago, the first release of the CA Lab was published. What once started as a student project has now developed into a very stable interface that is used worldwide.
This is now the 20th release, and I am glad to have received so much positive feedback from the community.
The best at first. CA Lab is now compatible with EPICS BASE V7. So the interface is now cooperative with almost all EPICS Base versions.
From version 1.7, CA Lab now works as a background service. It starts and ends automatically with LabVIEW.
This reduces latency and increases performance once again.
Next change, the default value of the input "variable PV names" was set to TRUE to improve the intuitive working with CA Lab.
This allows CA Lab-VIs to work with both modes, static PV names, and dynamic PV names in the default state.
Even for the particular case of > 1.000 PVs per VI, the best performance can be achieved with "variable PV names" = FALSE.
We are proud of the fact that CA Lab can handle > 10.000 EPICS variables without any problems.
A small change concerns the timeout value. It has been processed internally as an integer for some time.
For better transparency, the corresponding connector on the VI is now an integer.
Enough of the preface, the new version can be downloaded here: https://hz-b.de/calab
Best regards,
Carsten
