I added another record to the database and it seems the global init handler is called for each record. StreamDevice should work because the command interface is very simple, only this welcome message. I might try asynPortDriver meanwhile.

Best Regards,

Abdalla.

Yes, but for some reason the record ends up in an INVALID CALC_ALARM state. Could be that because @init should expect to read or write records?

Best Regards,

Abdalla.

I am working on an IOC for a device that has its control interface through telnet. The problem is there is a welcome message that appears once every time I connect to the device using any telnet interface. The welcome message is in this form:

Hello world command shell

Type ‘?’ for help

And then I have to send “scpi>” in order to start the SCPI mode. Is it possible to ignore this one-time message and send “scpi>” just once in StreamDevice?

Have you tried a global @init handler?

The documentation [1] seems to suggest that this could work.

Cheers,
~Ralph
