The CA client library will support both ALPHA/OSF and ALPHA/VMS under 3.12
EPICS. A version 3 EPICS portable CA server is in the works but will not be
in release 3.12.
Architecture independent data types ("typedefs") for all of the DBR_XXXX
types are include in db_access.h for 3.12. To remain portable CA clients
should use these types for any data requested from or supplied to the CA
client API.
