There's no war there's a request for comments for the next steps and it's just the
starting point that differs. Once we agree on common features of the next OPI we'll be
able to work _all_ together. Now we are in the situation that we started using one of the
choices for the GUI: we started using MEDM while you pick DM this will not prevent us to
discuss what our common interest are (besides 'X' versus Motif).
As an example: we hope that we can agree on a common scanner for the .dl or .adl files
this will make it more easy to chose either of the existing GIU's and will also help us to
move towards the next generation (J-DM -Java based(@TJNAF) or NT-DM -NT based (@??) ???).
Even the integration of other (commercial) formats would be possible.
