Subject: New MCP750s That Don't Run VxWorks Boot Code

Hello tech-talkers,

Has anyone else had trouble booting VxWorks on a new MCP750
recently? I realize this is not directly an EPICS question,
but we're in "ask everyone we know" mode right now.

We have been using Motorola's MCP750 board (Power PC, compact
PCI) in the ALS control system for a couple of years with
relatively little trouble -- just a few initial problems.
Earlier this year, we ordered a new MCP750 with a faster clock,
and it tested just fine, worked like the older ones only faster.

So we ordered 15 more. Since they arrived two weeks ago, we
have tried booting VxWorks on three of them, using the same
boot.bin (loaded into on-board Flash mem) that worked just fine on
all previous MCP750s. Alas, we get no console output, just a
green CPU light and no clue what else is happening.

We have asked our vendor, Wind River, and Motorola for help so
far, and wheels are turning, but there are no answers yet.
Bill Brown's query to the VxWorks exploder elicited one reply
from someone else with the same problem.

Anyone else have this problem? or better yet, a fix?
