I have just installed EPICS software (3.13.5) and built the example application. The iocCore runs and I can communicate with it via the console. The client, caExample, runs but is unable to communicate with the iocCore. On the host in response to "caExample aiExample" I get the message: CA.Client.Diagnostic.............................................. Message: "User specified timeout on IO operation expired" Severity: "Warning" Context: "ca_pend_io failure" Source File: ../caExample.c Line Number: 20 .................................................................. CA.Client.Diagnostic.............................................. Message: "The request was ignored because the specified channel is disconnected" Severity: "Error" Context: "ca_get failure" Source File: ../caExample.c Line Number: 21 The iocCore is on a protected subnet and I am hypothesizing that this may be why the client is unable to communicate with it. I tried to follow instructions in the Channel Access Reference Manual, section 1.3.2, Configuring CA for Multiple Subnets. However when I add the line EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST DBF_STRING 128.84.44.84 192.168.213.148 to resource.def ( used by iocInt ) I get an error during iocInit: Starting iocInit filename="../iocInit.c" line number=599 Missing resource data type field for resource=128.84.44.84 in file=resource.def value = 0 = 0x0 Any advice would be appreciated.
