Hi Christophe,

Don't change the Makefiles' contents - I once tried to do this, with no success and lots of frustration. There's more to do than just the Makefile changes to convert a 3.13 application to 3.14.

I know the confusion you're talking about - it's called "3.14 extensions package", but it contains 3.13 and 3.14 style applications. The point is, that the applications of this package compile (and are tested) against a 3.14 base. Nevertheless, some of them use the compatibility mode, some use the native 3.14 build system.

As long as you have both styles of applications in your extensions tree, you will have to have both configuration directories: .../config for your 3.13 style apps and .../configure for your 3.14 style apps. Note that all applications will be compiled against 3.14 - you don't have to install a 3.13 base! - but in the extensions tree both configuration directories have to be present to use the compatibility mode. Install both tars (extensionsConfig_20040406.tar.gz and extensionsConfigure_20040406.tar.gz) into your extension tree to make it work for both 3.13 and 3.14 style applications.
Alternatively, you can keep separate extensions trees for 3.13 and 3.14 style applications and only install one of the tars each. In that case, you will have to check a new to-be-installed application first and put it in the appropriate location.

Good luck!
Ralph

Hello Ralph,

thanks for the answer. For the moment I will just try to install both config and configure directories, I will try later to get authors' gratitude.

Just one question concerning the 3.14 extensions package, I was surprised to see that the makefile makes reference to a config directory whereas only a configure one is available. Is it normal or should I change its content ?

Christophe
