The upstream communication is already available for CompactPCI/PXI 
modules and PMC, but I guess you want it for VME. Actually I have the 
firmware built for VME, too, but I have not yet found time to test it.

Another bigger issue is that there have been a major changes in the 
register map and the the EPICS drivers need to be rewritten to support 
the new 'modular register mapping'. There have also been discussions of 
getting rid of the eg and er records and implement the new drivers using 
asyn.
