Thanks Kay!

I wasn't sure if the "EPICS PV Tree" was meant to replace probe or not.

When run the first time and the Welcome screen with the setup instructions is open, the Data Browser would not open--it doesn't look like it creates it's own perspective. After I opened another perspective, the Data Browser opened and runs fine.

Hi:

You're right that "Probe" was simply missing in the
"Basic EPICS" version of CSS.
So was the Preference GUI for configuring Channel Access.
Sorry for having overlooked that. Guess Friday is not a
good time for publishing stuff.

The web page now has new binaries:
 http://ics-web.sns.ornl.gov/css/products.html

The Data Browser should have been OK and still works for me under
OS X (Java 1.5), Redhat Linux (Java 1.5) and Windows XP (Java 1.6),
so we'll have to figure out why that's not working for you.

Is there a log file to look at to see what the problem might be?

Yes, it's a file
  .metadata/.log
in the workspace directory, which defaults to
  <your home directory>/CSS-Workspaces/Default .

Check the CSS File/Switch Workspace... menu option
to see the current workspace.

Thanks,
