John,
I have software that does everything needed to accomplish
the task, but it's not in the form your customer asked about.
I have python software that can write all non-default field values
of a record to a file. (It's intended use is to write a database from
a list of live records.) Though not what you asked for, it might get
your customer further down the road. Also, the software has a GUI,
but because it's python, you could import it and just call the routines
you care about. You would have to install caPython to use it, though.
Generally, I think you can't get a list of a record's field names via
channel access, but must parse the .dbd file that the ioc loaded.
Anyway that's what my code does.

All,
I was asked about a command line tool to list all field/values of a
record. Does such a thing exist?
