I disagree; there were several changes to the CAS code in between those
releases to fix issues in the CAS. If you've found that using a newer version
of Base solves some problems then there are no changes that could be made in
the caSnooper application code to fix them. EPICS is *designed* so that
different versions will inter-operate properly over the network; you shouldn't
hold back the version of Base that one application like this is built against
just because other parts of your system are using a different Base release
(although that does matter when different pieces of code are going to be
linked together into a single executable such as the support modules in an
IOC).

There have been no commits to CVS since the 2-1-2-1 release that I can see
from the cvsweb view at
  http://www.aps.anl.gov/cgi-bin/epics/cvsweb/extensions/src/caSnooper/

Since Ken Evans retired we've not had to make changes to caSnooper here at APS
— I suspect SLAC is using it more than APS now. If you guys want to
contribute patches we'd be happy to include them, but other than build issues
on newer OSs I don't think we have the effort to actively work on it any more.

HTH,

- Andrew

When you learn something from it, it becomes a lesson.
