Jay,
I looked at their documents. The serial port supports
Modbus slave. I could not determine if the Ethernet does as well, but I
suspect so. Then you do don’t need to write a driver at all, you just
read and write PLC registers via Modbus to communicate with EPICS.

Has anybody developed a EPICS module to
communicate with the OMRON PLC SYSMAC CJIM CPU12-ETN using Ethernet TCP/IP
sockets? I'm prepared to develop such a module using the asyn framework, but
wanted to check if anybody has done this already. We use the OMRON PLC for
cryogenics and vacuum control for our bionanoprobe X-ray fluorescence
instruments. I see references to Omron PLCs on the EPICS website from Paul
Hamadyk and Mauro Giacchini, but only for RS-232 communications.
Has anybody developed a EPICS module for
RS-232 communications with CryoCon temperature controllers? Again I'm prepared
to develop such a module using the asyn framework, but wanted to check if
anybody has done this already.
