Not actually true, you can adjust where the build looks for those files by
editing your extensions/configure/os/CONFIG_SITE.linux-x86.linux-x86 file and
changing the X11_* and MOTIF_* settings. The default values do assume that's
where they are found, but you should *never* need to modify your OS like that
to get EPICS programs to build or run.
