Hi,

It looks like CAEN provide a python library for access via the websocket, so maybe using https://github.com/mdavidsaver/pyDevSup/  is another option

Regards,

Freddie

I have a CAEN N1081A programable unit which uses websocket with a json based control protocol for communication. I guess the json part is simple to implement in streamdevice. I am not sure about the websocket part.
Is it possible to connect to a websocket device via streamdevice. Or has anybody ever used such an CAEN unit?

There are a number of C and C++ websocket libraries available, but to use one of them from StreamDevice would need integrating with Asyn and another kind of serial port creating that uses one of them. I haven’t heard of anyone doing that yet; it should be possible, but would be a fair amount of work.
