Hi Will,

I don't know offhand what the problem is, but I'll do a clean install from git and see what might be the issue.

Subject: Alive Server Installation

Hi Dohn,

I have been trying to install an alive server (https://epics-alive-server.github.io/). I have followed the various installation files in each repository. First I pulled and installed the alive daemon and ran it successfully. (https://github.com/epics-alive-server/alived)

When I ping it I get:

emil@sissy-serv-04:~/alive$ sudo alivectl -p

up

Next I wanted to install the web server, for that I pulled the following repositories:

https://github.com/dohnarms/dcgi.git

https://github.com/epics-alive-server/client-tools.git

In both directories I did nothing other than “sudo make install”. In both cases I used sudo because the output was being written to /usr/local/ This seemed to work ok, everything was installed and I got no error messages. Finally I pulled the repo https://github.com/epics-alive-server/web-client.git Again I followed the installation instructions, deciding not to change anything because I had installed the requirements in the previous step. This created an executable

/usr/local/cgi-bin/ioc_alive.cgi

If I try and run this

./ioc_alive.cgi

I get the error:

*** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated

Aborted (core dumped)

Any ideas?

All the best,

Will
