It’s possible that EPICS_PVA_NAME_SERVERS was not implemented for the original C++ library, pvAccessCPP.
It’s supported with the current C++ implementation, PVXS.
.. except that there was a bug that required you to use numeric IP addresses, not names, https://github.com/epics-base/pvxs/issues/134
I understand that was just fixed yesterday.
