Dear EPICS colleagues,
I am happy to announce that following two previous
summer schools at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), we will be hosting the (European) EPICS Summer School 2026 at the
European Spallation Source (ESS), from 17th to 28th of August 2026.
We are looking forward to welcoming to the school students who are new to EPICS; young students from universities or people who have some experience in the field but want to learn and extend their
knowledge about EPICS.
We at ESS, together with our partners from other European laboratories, will do our best to deliver an exciting and memorable course that can enhance (or open) your career in the scientific field!
The school website is here:
https://indico.ess.eu/event/3921/
The website contains practical advice about the school, but here is a summary:
- The school lasts two weeks, with one week for introduction to scientific facilities and a training course in EPICS. The second week the
students will work with hands-on projects to use the learned material in practice.
- We can accommodate up to 32 students. If there are more applicants than we can take in, we need to select who can attend. We will inform
the applicants about the selection later in the spring.
- The school is free of charge; materials, lunch and refreshments will be provided.
- We unfortunately do not have a guesthouse on the campus that we could use, so the students have to cover their own accommodation. However,
we expect to be able to financially support students who do not have employer backing. Please let us know your situation when you register.
- More details about the program will be added to the website in the coming weeks.
If this sound interesting to you, please check the website and register today!
Best regards,
Timo (ESS)
