No experience with the device as such, but can you check the output for  the ">" and drop it if it exists?

I had one Lakeshore  device that inserted a NUL between <CR> and <LF>, so I just dropped that.

This same pattern of errors occurs for various values (e.g., CUR,
GAUTOS, PRES, SIZE, VOLT, and STAT).
