I believe I typed

make -sj realclean realuninstall

But that command itself generated an error about the missing 7.0.1 directory.

Good question. The 'realclean' target does delete that file for the current host-arch, but the basic 'clean' target does not, and if you had built for multiple host architectures in the same tree you would have to do a 'make realclean' or 'make distclean' for each host for all the files to be deleted, which is obviously not ideal behaviour. I will fix the latter so all RELEASE.*.local files get removed, but I want to leave this as a 'realclean' (or 'distclean') action.

Thanks for finding the first bug before I've even sent out the release announcement!
