Please send the following:

    - The line from your startup script that sets STREAM_PROTOCOL_PATH

    - The exact error message you are seeing when you say it does not find the protocol file?

Are you seeing the following error message? You should see this if the protocol path is really not set.

drvStreamInit: Warning! STREAM_PROTOCOL_PATH not set. Defaults to "."

Subject: StreamDevice not parsing STREAM_PROTOCOL_PATH

Hello all,

I added a recent (2.8.10) StreamDevice to an existing (older) EPICS
sinstalltion (3.15.3). Everything appears to work fine except for the
parsing of the STREAM_PROTOCOL_PATH variable. The built ioc complains
about not finding the protocol file, but it only looks in ".". I tried
using epicsEnvSet and a shell environment variable, still StreamDevice
insists on just looking into ".". Linking my protocol file to this place
makes everything work.
Turning on debugging and logging, it looks like drvInit() in
StreamEpics.cc (which looks like it is responsible for parsing the
variable) is never called, I get no debug output at all from this.

Is this a known incompatibility (i.e., should I try an older release of
StreamDevice), or are there any other reasons which can cause this
behaviour?

cu
  Gerrit
