Which I had understood to mean that the input link would in fact fetch a
fresh value.
Your understanding of what was written was correct, unfortunately the
wording is actually wrong. I have modified the Wiki version of this
paragraph to mention the async behavior, although it really needs
someone knowledgable to go through this chapter to find and fix up this
kind of problem with the wording. Any volunteers out there?
