Hi,

use asynDriver <http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/modules/soft/asyn/> and set up a serial port like this:

drvAsynSerialPortConfigure ("serialport","/dev/ttyS1")

Use the name "serialport" (or whatever other name you chose) to reference the serial port in any device support that talks to asynDriver.

For an introduction on asynDriver, see http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/docs/USPAS2007/lectures/ASYN.ppt or
ftp://ftp.desy.de/pub/EPICS/meeting-2007/asynDriverIntroduction.pdf and of course the documentation that is included in asynDriver.

Maybe, you want to use StreamDevice <http://epics.web.psi.ch/software/streamdevice/> on top of asynDriver.

Dirk

Dear all,
I want to use a RS232 interface to connect a linux PC which EPICS is running on. Somebody suggest using drvSerial / drvASCII ,but I don't know how to use it. Who can help me ? Is there any other method to control the serial device ?
Many thanks in advance. Demin Zhang
