There is this bug fix <https://github.com/epics-modules/autosave/commit/9f93a180f59a6e24cd04ad866e7e1aafef68dbe8#diff-48466f6c5c095468c6870785550759b5>in the autosave module that could/would cause a crash at boot-up. It was fixed with autosave R5-7. I know this bug, because, unfortunately I rediscovered it about a year after Tim Mooney had fixed it.

If you absolutely cannot upgrade to a newer version of the autosave module, you could patch the old source.
(That may also only get you to the next bug that was fixed years ago.)
