There is this bug fix

the autosave module that could/would cause a crash at boot-up. It was fixed with
autosave R5-7.
I know this bug, because, unfortunately I rediscovered it about a year after Tim
Mooney had fixed it.
If you absolutely cannot upgrade to a newer version of the autosave module, you
could patch the old source.
(That may also only get you to the next bug that was fixed years ago.)
