Hey Josh,
I checked once more your make output and found the line below right
before the g++ call (which I overlooked earlier):
/bin/sh: 0: Illegal option --
I made a small test on my setup (Debian 11, EPICS_BASE 7.0.5, python3.9)
and I get this error when PYTHON_CONFIG is undefined.
Where have you defined the PYTHON_CONFIG variable? It should be defined
in configure/CONFIG_SITE of your IOC.
