There is only one place in the MAXnet support where the problem bit of the MSTA is set, which is what causes the "Controller Error" to appear on the MEDM screen:

The error occurs when the controller reports that the axis is moving but the velocity queried by the driver using the RV command is zero for five consecutive moving poll periods.
