The MAXv has internal filters on the limit lines that the MAXnet

controller lacks:

If there is noise on the limit lines of a MAXnet axis, moves will stop

prematurely. A significant amount of noise can make motors unusable

from EPICS.

them.  The MAXnet driver inherits from asynMotorController, so it should

definitely support multiple controllers in the same IOC.  Each is a

separate asynPortDriver object with a different asyn port name.

If you are planning to use this on a beamline that already has many VME

cards like the OMS MAXv then I wonder if it is the best solution.  You

will need to build a box with power supply and connectors for the

MAXnet, while adding from more MAXv cards is simpler. If you want an

Ethernet solution there are more powerful controllers available that

already have nice packaging.
