In brief, PyDevice is intended to be simple Python extension from existing EPICS records directly, trading in some of the record fields handling flexibility that pyDevSup has. PyDevice is intended for easily invoking Python code/function from EPICS records and should be very familiar to people familiar with EPICS databases. As can be seen from examples, it’s really easy to call built-in Python code from EPICS records, ie. grabbing contents of a file as shown last week in another tech-talk thread.
